Dr. Umbareen Mahmood

Dr. Mahmood is a Board Certified, double Ivy League trained Plastic and Reconstructive surgeon practicing in New York City. She employs both surgical and non-surgical techniques tailored to the individual needs and desires of her patients. Dr. Mahmood underwent extensive training in plastic and reconstructive surgery at the University of South Florida. She has also worked at several prestigious institutions such as the Moffitt Cancer Center in Tampa, FL, All Children’s Hospital in St. Petersburg, FL, and was actively involved in the medical care of veterans at two large Veteran’s hospitals.

Dr. Mahmood is a proud member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, the New England Society of Plastic Surgeons, and the New York Regional Society of Plastic Surgeons.

She has published several medical articles relating to the field of plastic surgery including,Nipple-Sparing Mastectomy via Inframammary Fold: Reconstructive Red Flags in Cancer & Clinical Oncology, Lateral Subcutaneous Brow Lift: Updated Technique in the Aesthetic Surgery Journal, articles regarding international burn management including, Burn Management Capacity in Low and Middle Income Countries; A Systematic Review of 458 Hospitals across 14countries, the book chapter, Abdominal and Thoracic Reconstruction in Plastic Reconstructiveand Aesthetic Surgery: The Essentials, and presented her work at regional and national plastic surgery conferences.

She received a bachelor’s degree in psychology and brain sciences from Dartmouth College and a Doctor of Medicine degree from Dartmouth Medical School, and was awarded research scholar grants at Memorial Sloan Kettering and the National Institute of Health. Dr. Mahmood subsequently completed a highly competitive integrated six-year plastic surgery residency program at the University of South Florida. Strongly committed to altruistic endeavors, she maintains an active profile in the local community and supports various philanthropic organizations, particularly those that benefit child development and literacy. In her spare time,Dr. Mahmood’s interests include fitness, travel, fashion, music, the arts, and enjoying all that New York City has to offer.
